DC Kupwara for speedy implementation of Court directions regarding FRP trees
KUPWARA, APRIL 06: Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kupwara, Anshul Garg, today convened a meeting with Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone and Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Bashir Ahmad Bhat to discuss the progress with regard to axing of Female Russian Poplar (FRP) trees in the district as per the directions of J&K High Court.
The DC was informed that the notice has already been published in the leading newspapers with the direction to the general public to ensure felling of female Russian Poplar trees, on their lands within 05 days as per the High Court directions.
He asked all the Tehsildars and BDOs of the district to implement orders on ground in letter and spirit.
It was also ordered that the female Russian Poplar trees existing on Government Land (State/Kachchri) will be fell down by the concerned Sarpanchs and the revenue accrued there from on account of Timber and wood shall be deposited in concerned Panchyat Accounts.
In case of private lands, whoever fails to fell down such trees from their lands within 05 days, the concerned Sarpanch will take the possession of all such trees and get them extracted and revenue after sale of its timber will go to the Panchayat.
It was also given out that the exercise will be monitored by the concerned BDC Chairpersons in their area of jurisdiction and they shall ensure that task of extractions of such trees is accomplished within 05 days both from private as well a government lands.
The concerned BDO’s were asked to furnish daily progress report in the prescribed format counter-signed by BDC Chairperson for compilation of District level report by District Panchayat Officer.
The meeting was informed that the BDC Chairpersons and Sarpanches have been authorized to move within their respective jurisdictions for the implementation of these directions while as concerned Tehsildars and SHOs have been ordered to extend their magisterial and Police support to BDC Chairpersons and Sarpanchs whose movement is permitted in their jurisdictions.
