DC finalizes arrangements for celebration of WEAAD
KISHTWAR, JUNE 12: Deputy Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana, today chaired an officers meeting to review and finalize arrangements for celebration of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) on 15th of June.
It was decided in the meeting that the main event will be held at Chowgan ground from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
During the event, various activities would be carried out like establishment of stalls by different departments, medical camp for senior citizens, distribution of hearing aids and walking sticks besides skit by the school children.
DC directed CEO Kishtwar to ensure the participation of school children in the event so as to teach them moral lessons on ageing with dignity. 
ACD Kishtwar was directed to ensure the participation of at least 50 senior citizens of each block in the programme. Besides, Health department was directed to organize a Medical Health camp for senior citizens on the day besides  distributing basic medicines among them free of cost.
DSWO was directed to distribute hearing aids, walking sticks and wheel chairs among the needy beneficiaries after proper identification.
In order to facilitate "Healthy and Active Ageing" intergenerational walkathon, laughter yoga and geriatric exercises will also be organised for senior citizens during the occasion.
DC directed all allied departments to install stalls and multiservice camps at the venue showcasing their products and schemes. He also asked for disseminating information on healthy ageing, health check and consultation, information on pensions, other concessions and welfare schemes for senior citizens, legal aid services etc.
Among other who attended the meeting were ADDC Kishtwar, Mohd. Hanief Malik, Munsiff Kishtwar, Manish Kumar  JD Planning, ACR Kishtwar, Divisional  Manager SFC, AD Employment, DySP HQ, representative  of NHPC, DLSA and other officers.
